Tragedy in the Skies: 12 Dead After Plane Crash Near Roatán

Jetstream 32 Plane Crash – Roatán, Honduras (March 17, 2025)

A Lanhsa Airlines Jetstream 32 crashed into the sea shortly after takeoff near Roatán. The flight departed from Juan Manuel Gálvez International Airport, headed to La Ceiba. On board were 17 people: 2 pilots, 1 flight attendant, and 14 passengers. Suspected cause: engine failure due to mechanical issues. 12 confirmed dead, including beloved Garifuna singer Aurelio Martínez Suazo. Other victims: co-pilot Francisco Lagos, Carlos Edwin Mejía, his wife, and their two daughters. 5 survivors rescued by local fishermen who arrived at the crash site within minutes. International tributes have poured in; investigation into the crash is ongoing.
